Hello, all! Happy Friday!
Yes, I realize I haven’t been around for a few weeks. This is because I’ve been trying to work out some site maintenance, and I’m still not completely finished, but the main thing is that I’ve changed from Veronica Reads to Pen & Pages (notice URL change). The biggest reason I chose that URL is because I’ve made the decision to turn this into not just a book blog, but a writing one as well! Yay! That means posting everything from writing tips to thoughts about certain writing topics (character development, world building, etc) to the process of writing in general. I love writing just as much as I love reading, and it only made sense for me to start making posts about both loves. Moving forward, I’ll be doing some more little changes here and there to the site, but nothing more drastic than the content and name change. I’m really excited to share all of my thoughts on books and writing with you guys, and I hope you are too!
I’m also approaching finals at school which is both bad and good. The bad part is that I’ve come out of my reading slump, and now that I want to read ALL the books, I don’t have a lot of time to do so. The good part is that summer is nearer than ever, and I’ll be back to posting regularly (hopefully twice a week).
As for reading…A few days ago I picked up The Raven Boys, book one of The Raven Cycle series, by Maggie Stiefvater, and I am LOVING it. I don’t read much paranormal which is why I’d been hesitant to pick the book up for so long. But hearing such great things about it recently from so many people that I trust got me curious for the first time. Turns out I’m now addicted! I just ordered the next two books because I know I’ll want to read them immediately. I’ll be sure to do a review once I finish book one, so look out for that coming soon!
Lastly, I recently finished The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. I’ll be posting a review of that either tomorrow or Sunday!
I think that’s it for now! If you’ve read The Raven Boys or The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, let me know what you thought!
I’ll be back very soon!
Read and write on! – Veronica (Meh, think I need to come up with a better sign off…)
