Hello again! Since I love Harry Potter so much and will most likely bring it up countless times on this blog, I thought I would do the Ultimate Harry Potter Tag to share my HP favorites and other little HP-related tidbits. I’m not sure who created this tag (it goes pretty far back), but I found it on Paradise of Pages’s blog. It looks fun though, so let’s just get right into it!
1. Favorite book?
As I mentioned in my Books You’d Save in a Fire post, Deathly Hallows is by far my favorite in the series. I could gush about it for hours, probably.
2. Least favorite book?
I don’t like this question! But I’d probably choose Sorcerer’s Stone just because it’s mostly developing the world, and all the characters are so young. Of course it holds a special place in my heart because it was the start of it all, but yeah. Least favorite.
3. Favorite movie?
I constantly go back and forth between Prisoner of Azkaban and Deathly Hallows Part l. Honestly, I just love them both so much, and I don’t think I could give a definitive answer here. They’re tied!
4. Least favorite movie?
Half. Blood. Prince. Ugh. Just…no. There was very little I liked about it. I still remember it being the first HP movie I walked out of feeling disappointed. Before then it was always Order of the Phoenix.
5. Favorite quote?
I’ll just list a few of my favorites.
“Time is making fools of us again,” – Dumbledore, Half-Blood Prince
“Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.” – Dumbledore, Goblet of Fire.
“Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike.” – Dumbledore, Order of the Phoenix
“It was, he thought, the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew – and so do I, thought Harry, with a rush of fierce pride, and so did my parents – that there was all the difference in the world.” – Half Blood Prince
And as for humor, I love the part where Molly forces Ron to clean his room in DH in preparation for Bill and Fleur’s wedding and Ron says, “And are they getting married in my bedroom? No! So why in the name of Merlin’s saggy left–” And how the Merlin’s pants thing comes up numerous times is hilarious.
And one last funny one which actually happens in a serious moment during DH: “Accio Hagrid!” Ha!
6. Favorite Weasley?
Probably Ginny. But of course I also adore Ron. I mean, I love every Weasley, including pompous Percy, but Ginny and Ron.
7. Favorite female character?
Hermione Granger, obviously. She’s got to be one of the greatest female characters ever. I just love her soooo much.
8. Favorite villain?
Bellatrix Lestrange. Even though she kills Sirius…
9. Favorite male character?
My favorite is Harry, but I always say Sirius Black because Harry is just a given. I’ve always been a hardcore Sirius fan. And marauders fan in general.
10. Favorite professor?
I honestly CANNOT pick between Professor Lupin and Professor McGonagall. They are clearly the best professors to grace the Hogwarts castle.
11. Would you rather A) wash Snape’s hair or B) spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself?
I hate Lockhart, but I hate Snape more, so B. There’s no way I’m touching Snape’s greasy head.
12. Would you rather A) duel an elated Bellatrix or B) an angry Molly?
I’d rather fight Bellatrix. We all know what happened the last time someone tried to duel and angry Molly…I’d like my life, thanks.
13. Would you rather travel to Hogwarts via A) Hogwarts Express or B) flying car?
That car is way too unreliable. I’ll take the train.
14. Would you rather A) kiss Voldemort or B) give Umbridge a bubble bath?
Um, ew. Okay, since I loath Umbridge, I guess I’ll kiss Voldemort.
15. Would you rather A) ride a Hippogriff or B) ride a Firebolt?
I think I’d have more control on the broom.
16. Is there a character which you felt differently about in the movies vs. books?
Definitely Ginny. She’s one of my favorite characters in the books, and the movies completely butchered her amazing personality.
17. Is there a movie you preferred instead of the book?
Why is this even a question???
18. Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?
Team Michael Gambon.
19. Your top thing (person or event) which wasn’t included in the movies that annoyed you most?
I would say just the way in which the final face-off between Voldemort and Harry was done. I thought it was epic and awesome in the book, and the movie version where nobody was around and Neville was off chasing the snake and Neville’s cheesy speech…so ehh. I wanted the sorting hat to catch fire on Neville’s head as he yelled “I’ll join you when hell freezes over! Dumbledore’s Army!” I wanted him to chop the snake in front of everyone. I wanted the Harry/Voldy show down where they talk at each other and everyone is watching and it’s so tense. Just not the movie at all, basically. Also would have loved more development of the marauders backstory.
20. If you could remake any of the movies which would it be?
Half-Blood Prince hands down.
21. Which house was your first gut feeling you’d be part of?
22. Which house were you actually sorted into on Pottermore?
23. Which class would be your favorite?
Maybe Charms or Defense Against the Dark Arts.
24. Which spell do you think would be the most useful to learn?
Accio – But it would make me lazier than I already am.
25. Which character at Hogwarts do you think you’d instantly be best friends with?
If I went during the marauders era, I think I would probably be friends with Lily. If I went during Harry’s time, I’d probably hang out with the silver trio: Luna, Ginny, and Neville. And if I went during the second gen. I would love to be friends with Teddy Lupin.
26. If you could own one of the three hallows which would it be?
Invisibility cloak. The others are too dangerous.
27. Is there any aspect of the book you’d want to change? (Character, event, etc.)
I would just eliminate the entire Grawp storyline in Order of the Phoenix. So unnecessary.
28. Favorite marauder?
Sirius Black. But I LOVE Remus and James as well. Like, a lot. I just love, love the marauders.
29. If you could bring one character back to life, which would it be?
Everyone probably expects I would pick Sirius, but I would actually pick Remus so that Teddy could have his father back. I know he has Harry, but I hate that he lost both of his parents as a baby just like Harry. I love Tonks, but Remus is one of my favorite characters, so I’d definitely bring him back if I could. Plus, I hate to say this, but I think Sirius was almost better off dead? He was too depressed about what happened before Azkaban, and I don’t think he ever would have been the old him again had he lived unless they somehow managed to get his name cleared. But even then, I’m not sure. He just has so many regrets in his life. I’m sure he’s ever be truly happy again.
30. Hallows or Horcruxes?
So there we have it! Wow, that took me longer than I expected, but hopefully you can all gain a little insight about how I feel about certain things related to HP. Maybe someday I’ll write a little bit about how I was introduced to the series or just ways it’s impacted my life.
In the meantime, feel free to do this tag if you want, and leave me a comment with something HP related below!
Until next time,
Read on! – Veronica
