Hello, readers! Wednesday is again upon us, and this week’s T5W topic is Bookish Habits. If any of you are like me, I’m sure you have many of these. I didn’t even realize I had so many until I stopped to think about them for this list. I could have named more, but I chose the ones that I feel are my biggest habits in regard to reading and books. As usual, Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey. The Goodreads group is here.  Now let’s talk about my bookish habits!

(Awesome artwork by Viria.)

Hello again! Since I love Harry Potter so much and will most likely bring it up countless times on this blog, I thought I would do the Ultimate Harry Potter Tag to share my HP favorites and other little HP-related tidbits. I’m not sure who created this tag (it goes pretty far back), but I found it on Paradise of Pages’s blog. It looks fun though, so let’s just get right into it!

Top 5 Wednesday: Books That Made You Think

Hello, readers! I wanted to have a review of East of Eden by John Steinbeck up before this, but I didn’t end up finishing it over the weekend. Still making my way through to the end. It’s fantastic, but very long, so bear with me! In the meantime, here’s another Top 5 Wednesday! Again, this was created by Lainey (or gingerreadslaniey on YT), and you can find the Goodreads link to the group here. This week’s topic: Books That Made You Think. I thought it was going to be difficult to narrow down my choices, but I picked these 5 gems with surprising ease. Warning: serious topics ahead!

Top 5 Wednesday: Books You’d Save in a Fire

top 5 wed fire

Hello again, readers! Today, I’ll be doing my first Top 5 Wednesday post. Top 5 Wednesday was created by the booktuber Lainey at gingerreadslainey (check out her YouTube channel here). Basically, every week there will be a new category for which I’ll post my top 5 books for. You can check out the Top 5 Wednesday Goodreads group here.

This week the category is Books You’d Save in a Fire. Now, if I’m being completely honest, I’d probably just grab all of my Harry Potter books and run, but I’ll follow the rules which state that I can’t pick an entire series as one book. My one exception is the graphic novel series I’ve chosen, and my justification is that they are short enough that they only add up to one novel. Also, they come in a box set, which is basically like having one big book. So if any of my other picks are part of a series, just know that it was extremely hard for me to pick just one of them. Now without further ado, here are the 5 books I would save in a fire:

Review – “All the Bright Places” by Jennifer Niven

Quick synopsis: Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him. Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death. When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.
